Presentation of credentials by the new Ambassador of France to Zimbabwe

French Ambassador Paul-Bertrand BARETS presented yesterday his credentials to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in the presence of Minister of Justice, Ziyambi Ziyambi, and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, Michael Chigiji, during an official ceremony at the State House.

Following the meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the ambassador spoke to the press and emphasized his desire to contribute to strengthening relations between France and Zimbabwe.

Credentials are an official document signed by the head of state or government and entrusted to a newly appointed ambassador. He then hands it over to the head of state of the host country. It is the reception of this document that formalizes the appointment and accreditation of the ambassador.
