Applying for a Visa

The visa section of the Embassy of France in Zimbabwe issues short and long-stay visas to France.

The visa section also issues Schengen (only short-stay) visas for Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Iceland and Switzerland (until 31st December 2023). Furthermore, the visa section issues short-stay visas for Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Djibouti, Gabon, Mauritania and Togo.

For general information, preparing and submitting your application, log on to France-Visas the official website for visa application to France.

You will be required to create an account and France Visas will guide you through the application process. Once you have filled in the application form online, print the document and bring it on the day of your appointment along with other supporting documents (see details listed below)

Step 1: Do I need a visa?

Firstly, use “Visa wizard” to check, based on your situation, whether you need a visa and if so, what type. The wizard will also tell you what documents must be enclosed with your application, along with the relevant fee.

Step 2: Submit your application online

Once you have checked whether you need a visa, you can fill in the application online on the portal. You will be required to create an account and France-visas will guide you at every stage of the process.

Step 3: Prepare supporting documents for a visa

Applicants should come with the online completed application form and all supporting documents.
The list of documents required can be downloaded here below, depending on the type of visa. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Documents that are not in French or in English must be translated in one of the two languages. Otherwise, they won’t be accepted.
Your passport must be valid and its expiration date must be at least 3 months longer than the duration of the visa requested.

I - Short-stay visa for France and other Schengen countries represented by France in Zimbabwe (90 days and below)

III - Visa for the French Overseas Departments and Territories

The documents required are the same as above, depending on the category


IV - Visa for the African countries represented (Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Djibouti, Gabon, Mauritania, Togo)

The application form and the required documents are similar to the ones required for Schengen short-stay visas (please cross out "for Schengen Visa" in the title and write the name of the country for which the visa is requested).

Step 4: Application fees

Visa fees are to be paid in US dollars (cash only), based on the prevailing embassy exchange rate on the day of submission.

A/ Schengen short stay visa:
- Adults: 90 €
- Children between 6 and 12 years old: 45 €
- Children under 6 years old: free

B/ Long stay visa:
- Adults: 99 €
- Children between 6 and 12 years old: 49,50 €
- Children under 6 years old: free

Step 5: Make an appointment to submit your application

An appointment at the French Embassy is compulsory to submit your application.

The visa section is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm.
