Under the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, will organize the third Market Access Day for businesses on Monday, 4 April 2022.

This “Market Access” day will be aimed at businesses and their associations, promoting the benefits to be gained from European Union trade agreements, particularly those that offer major opportunities but are often not used enough.

It will provide an opportunity to remind businesses of the many existing trade policy tools available to professionals, such as the Access2Markets information portal, the Single Entry Point (SEP) to report trade barriers and the Rules of Origin Self-Assessment tool. French representatives from Team France Export and the relevant ministries will also present the tools specifically created to offer businesses tailored support for their international development, particularly with the portal for regional solutions. Representatives from other Member States will also participate and share their proposals to make Europe a stronger export power together.

Denis Redonnet - JPEG18 months since his appointment within the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission, the Chief Trade Enforcement Officer, Denis Redonnet, will present a report on the implementation of trade agreements and the pathways he plans to explore in the coming months to reinforce his work, ensure fair competition for our businesses and further lift trade barriers.

The United Kingdom and the Indo-Pacific will be the focus of two geographical roundtables at the event. More than a year after Brexit, we will review what has been done to support businesses and their commercial activities with the United Kingdom, as well as the challenges to be addressed in the coming months. Some weeks after the Ministerial Forum for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, discussions will highlight the opportunities provided by our trade agreements with South Korea, Japan and Vietnam, and the levers available to Europeans to export and set up in these regions.

The day will finish with a workshop presenting trade defence instruments (anti dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard measures), which help protect European businesses in our markets from certain unfair practices of third countries. The workshop will bring together speakers directly involved in implementing these defence instruments, from the European Commission, customs, professional associations and law firms.
