Official commissioning of the Lafarge Cement Plant in Harare (28 April 2021)
Ambassador Mr. Laurent Chevallier attended the official commissioning by President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Lafarge Cement new production unit in Harare on Wednesday 28 April 2021.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a major development project for Lafarge Cement over the next few years. Lafarge Cement aims to increase their production capacity.
This event was attended by several members of the Zimbabwean government, including the Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Sekai Nzenza, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development Mr. Mthuli Ncube and the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Anxious Masuka. French Ambassador Mr. Laurent Chevallier and Senior Adviser for Political Affairs and Human Security from the Swiss Embassy, Mr Pascal Holliger, were also present.
The new production unit has been set up to better supply the domestic demand. The company is committed to develop its activities for the construction and agricultural sectors in Zimbabwe.
Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe’s objective is also to export its production in the future and to play a major economic role in the region.
