Following a call for projects launched in May 2021 for small and medium-sized Zimbabwean organisations working in sustainable agriculture and women’s empowerment, 19 associations were selected out of a total of 335 applications. For the preparation and selection of the projects, the Embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Action Department (SCAC) relied on a steering committee composed of, in addition to the SCAC, the regional office of AFD (Agence Française de Développement), GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), the European Union Delegation in Harare, UNICEF, and two local umbrella organisations, Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCOZ) and Nango. The selected topics are also the priority areas of action of the European Union in Zimbabwe, namely the Team Europe Initiative.

The selected associations, located all over the country, received support ranging from €10,000 to €30,000 per project.
At the completion of the project, 13 projects have been finalised and 6 projects are in the process of being finalised. Moreover, 16 projects have resulted in total ownership by the beneficiaries, ensuring the sustainability of the actions undertaken.
